An exceptional garden favourite chosen for its mild flavour and crisp texture. Quick to crop, this long-rooted variety displays a rich red skin contrasted by pure white tips that will brighten salads year round. Requiring little space sow in between slower crops to utilise garden beds.
Winner of an RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and good performance.
How To Grow |
Sow thinly in rows 25cm (10in) apart. Cover lightly with 5mm (¼in) of soil and keep moist. Thin if necessary. Seedlings appear in 5-8 days. Keep beds moist and weed-free. Pick when young and tender to prevent pithy cores. Sow small amounts every 2-3 weeks for a steady supply of fresh crops. Eat right out of the garden or slice lengthwise to add into sandwiches. |
